THE HUDSON VALLEY

Designated as a National Heritage Area, the valley is steeped in history, natural beauty, culture, and a burgeoning food and farmer’s market scene.   Among many attributes, it’s the oldest wine-producing area in the country, and the magnificent scenery inspired artists whose works became the Hudson River School of Painters.  Lonely Planet describes the Hudson River Valley as “a real city break, with leafy drives, wineries, and plenty of farm-to-table foodie options.”   National Geographic Traveler named the Hudson  Valley one of the top 20 must-see destinations in the world.

The Mountain Brauhaus

Mountain Brauhaus.jpg

Mountain Brauhaus tradition of 67 years serving authentic German cuisine, while presenting varied options for the contemporary diner — including vegan specials, as well as adventurous combinations of specialty ingredients and fresh local harvests.

Our Seasonal Menu features fresh fish, vegetarian and vegan options, as well as locally raised meats and local produce.  Also located on the Seasonal Menu are our featured draft beer and wine specials, as well as handcrafted seasonal cocktails.  We maintain a list of items from our regular menu that are appropriate for those with gluten sensitivity.

In Germany, the heartiest meal is often eaten at midday.  In keeping with that tradition, we serve our full menu, both lunch & dinner items, throughout the day and evening.

As for drinks to accompany your meal, you can choose from our selection of German beers on tap or branch out with an intriguing bottled brew; or you may prefer a classic cocktail mixed to your liking by one of our bartenders.

While you might not immediately think of wine when when you hear the name Brauhaus, Germany produces some amazing wines that pair well with a broad range of cuisines.  We are proud to offer some of our favorites, including delicate Pinot Noir and rich Riesling Spaetlese. Our accessible wine list features several wines by the glass, as well as some unique bottle selections.

The Hoot Owl

Hoot Owl.jpg

The  building was originally constructed in 1856 by JL Vernooy. At the time, the area was known as the hamlet of Dwaar’s Kill. The building served as the post office, the general store, and according to local lore, at one time functioned as the local brothel. It was known as Terwilleger’s and then Bill’s Store, until a German immigrant named Herb Paust bought it and named it Herb’s Hoot Owl in 1947. Since then, the Hoot Owl had its ups and downs, but gained a fairly infamous reputation in the area until it closed down to the public in 2013. We are grateful to Al Mercurio for trusting us with this special place. In May of 2017, Arif and Sabeen re-opened this community gathering place.

We serve delicious food and drinks in a comfortable and welcoming environment.

We strive our best to source ingredients that are delicious, healthy, and local.

But most importantly, we aim to be a place where neighbors and friends can connect with each other, where strangers can become friends, and where we all can share a few laughs, and enjoy our short time together on this earth.

The Il Cena'Colo Northern Tuscan Italian

il-cena-colo.jpg

They do not provide a description because it is simply not needed.  When you pass this restaurant it looks like a hole in the wall from the outside BUT IT IS OUR FAVORITE RESTAURANT.  In NY, we have a lot of options for Italian food buy my husband cannot eat pasta.  However, he is able to eat all of the items at Cena'Colo.

They provide outdoor seating as well.
